Getting ready

You may come across the need to install a package locally.

How to do it...

  1. Download the package file from the repository or from the book code. Put this file in the core/packages folder.
  1. Go to Manager > System > Package Management > Add New Package. Select Search Locally for a Package. Click to install the package in the package management list.

How it works...

At times you may be required to install packages locally. This can be done in Package Management. Download the compressed file and place it in core/packages. Go to Manager >System > Package Management > Add New Package. Select Search Locally for Packages and click to confirm your choice. Install the package that you wish to add.

Installing packages locally will be a little bit quicker. If you are unable to install the package from the Provider in the Package Retriever, try searching locally for packages.
